SIDELIGHTS ON PRISON LIFE.
In the communication from the High Commissioner received ’by the Minister for Defoey, (the Hon. Sir James 4 ” Jh'; appear the following ‘"A report lias been received by me from Mr O. G. Pemberton, a civilian prisoner of war, who is in the Prisoners’ Parcels Ollico at Rublehen, of an interview which he recently had with eleven New Zealand civilians. They stated that their parcels wore coming to hand quite regularly, ana they made some requests for Nothing, which are being attended to. They expressed themselves in very appreciative terms of the way in which they were being looked after - , and sent wannest Christmas and New Year greetings to all inquiring friends.
'(■‘Mr Horace Hunt recently wrote from Ruhloben as follows. —‘It may Interest you to tnow that A. H. Jones who is producing “She Stoops to Conquer” in ahbont time, lias asked me to write music for the occasion, and I Lave also a further musical interest in life at present, in that I am to conduct tlio next symphony concert of the Ruhlebcn Orchestra. We started work this morning at 8. J 5, and iiad quite a good rehearsal. With grateful thanks to the High Commissioner’s. Ollico, which looks after ns New Zealanders so well.”
