THE WHEAT QUESTION.

To The Editor. SIR., —I wish to draw the attention of all wheat growers, merchants and millers tto , p a very important meeting, which will bo held in Marton on Saturday at the Coronation Hall, at 2. <3O. The public are ' aware that the Government have commandeered the wheat, but the rules and regulations regarding price, etc., at certain stations are somewhat confusing to farmer, merchant and miller, I communicated with Mr E. Newman, M. P., pointing out to him that trouble was likely to arise. He immediately wired to' Wellington asking if fa Government representative could bo sent up to Marion on Saturday to address the farmers and merchants and explain everything in connection with the handling of wheat. Mr Newman has received a reply that his request will be'granted. Seeing that the Government is sending a representative from Wellington for our benefit, I hope the farmers will not fail to attend this meeting, as a few important matters in connection with wheat have to be dealt with. Mr E. Newman has also kindly promised to attend the meeting.—l am, etc., ■ A. STUART, ■ Chairman Marton- Branch Farmers’ Union.
