THE WHEAT QUESTION.
To The Editor. SIR,- —I wish to draw the attention of fll wheat growers, merchants and millers to ha very important meeting, which will be held in Martou on Saturday at the Coronation Hall, at 2.30. The public are ' aware that the Government have commandeered the wheat, but the rules and regulations regarding price, etc., at certain stations are somewhat confusing to farmer, merchant and miller, I communicated with Mr E. Newman, M. P., pointing out to him that'trouble was likely to arise. Ho immediately wired to Wellington asking if.a Government representative could be sent up to Marton on Saturday to address the farmers and merchants and explain everything in connection with the handling'of wheat. Mr Newman has received a reply that his request will be granted. Seeing that the Government is sending a representative from Wellington for our benefit? I hope the farmers will not fail to attend this meeting, as a few important matters in connection with wheat have to bo dealt with. Mr E. Newman has also kindly promised to a ttend the meeting.—-I am, etc., A. STUART, Chairman Mar ton Branch Farmers’ Union,
