AUDITING HIS ACCOUNTS.
RUMOURS OF STARTLING DEVELOPMENTS Rumour has been current in the city during the E past few weeks as to the financial troubles left behind him by the 1 te Mr A. S. Biss, says the Lew Zealand limes. It is now generally known that the defalcations in his accounts amount to anything from £20,000 to £25,000. The deficit is made up priucip lly of misapplied trust moiie3’s. A private meeting of deceased’s creditors was held last week, tnd it is believed a further meeting is to 1)0 held, Imcdt is unlikely that the matter wlii *Qpme before the Bankruptcy Court. It is believed that the biggest sufferer is a loc.l lady, a relative by marriage of deceased’s. She suffers to the extent of about £12,000 or £13,000. The remainder of the money is mide up mostly of trust moneys of various companies. Several local professional men suffer heavily as a result of the defalcations. On the morning of the day Mr Biss died proceedings were to be instituted for an investigation of accounts in connection with his estate.
