At a meeting of the Taihape Hospital Executive held at the hospital ou Tuesday last the matron again brought tne matter up of-the hospital morgue being used for public purposes. 3 his gave a lot of additional work to an all ready shorthauded and overworked staff. The executive decided that the necessity for a public morgue be again brought before the'Borough Council. On Thursday night a man named James Ireson became rather troublesome in a local boarding house and wound up by throwing a bottle through a window and smashing a quantity of crockery. On Friday morning ho was before tho court charged with being drunk in Hautapu street, also with wilfullydamaging property. On the first account he was convicted and discharged on the other charge he was fined £2 and ordered to pay damages £8 11s 9d.
Mr W. Strachan, junr., of Raketapauna, was admitted to Ruinui hospital ou Thursday afternoon suffering from a broken leg. Whilst he was going round his property the horse lie was riding came down through putting one leg through tho docking of an old bridge with the result that Mr Strachan was thrown heavily and sustained the injury mentioned.
A very old resident of this district, in the person of Mr John Bradley, passed away at tho Taihape Hospital on Thursday afternoon. Up to twelve mouths ago Mr Bradley, although 75 years of age, was one of the healthiest and hardiest of men, but about that time he contracted an illness and his health since had been patchy at intervals. Quite recently lie seemed well but during this week he again broke down and came into tho hospital where he only survived a few days. Mr Bradley had been in these parts for upwards of 20 ye rs and usually folowed the occupation of shepherd or drover and at the time of his death he was in the employ of Mr Bennett. At all times he was a bright and cheerful old man and his death will be regretted by all who knew him.
