THE WATERSHED ROAD SCHOOL.

A most enjoyable gathering took place at the residence of Mr and Mrs John Lambert “ Ainswood. ’’ Watershed Road, Hunterville on Wednesday, Dec. 18th, the occasion being the breaking up ceremony. A short programme "was given by the cbildJ ren, which turned out very successful, the children being dressed according to their characters in the dialogues, etc. A few musical items were rendered by the pupils, Miss Lambert playing the accompaniments. Louisa Stewart, on behalf of the pupils, then presented the teacher (Miss Falmer) with a jewel case. The prizes were distributed by Mr Lambert, chairman, of the school committee. The children then gave three hearty cheers for the teachers and those who so generously subscribed towards the prize list. A sumptuous afternoon tea was provided by the parents. After singing the National Anthem the children took up a collection in aid of the Hunterville Red Cross. Special prizes were given to the girl and boy for best attendance. Lyall and Evelyn Lambert being the winners. The prize list was as follows: Louisa Stewart Standard 0, reading ; Evelyn Lambert 5, English; Ellen Stewart Standard 4, arithmetic; Mary Bower, Standard 53, writing; John Stewart, 3, history; Lyall Lambert, Standard 3, gardening; George Stewart, Standard 1; poetry; Maurice Hamilton,primer 3 spelling.
