BRITAIN'S FOOD SUPPLY.
LLOYD GEORGE APPEALS FOR MORE ASKS FARMERS TO BEAT TKEIR BEST. United' Press Aeociation—Tßy Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Oct . 13, noon. London, Oct. 11. Mr Lloyd George, in receiving argicultnral representatives, appealed to farmers to increase enormously the food supplies, not because he was afraid of submarines, as he could state definitely that _ the submarine menace was rapidly diminishing, but the world’s stock of food was the smallest tor years. The diminution ,of French and Italian crereal production had thrown France and Italy on to the markets of the world. He 7deprecated as unfair the abuse of the farmer, which was due to gnorance of the precariousness of his huisnes. He was convinced that the majority of the people were grateful to farmers for the achievement in last Spring, adding seven hundred thousand acres to cultivation in England alone. He asked the farmers now to improve that achievement. We do not „go to the American market to snatch food from the mouths of the Allies.
