Devolution’s dam, Lily of Knockinlaw, is by Prince Alexander, who was sold as a yearling for 1200 guineas and was Ist and Champion at the Highland the same year, and won the Cawdor Cup at Glasgow gs a three-year-old. His g-dam, Miss Daisy of Camel, is by Prince of Kyle, who was sold when 18 months old for 1700 guineas, and won Ist at Kilmarnock, Ayr and Glasgow as a yearling, 2-yeat-old and 3-year-old, also winning the Cawdor Cup that year. G-g-dam, Tulip, by Top Gallant, who was sold as a yearling for 1500 guineas, and was without doubt the best breeding horse of his day. DEVOLUTION was only shown twice in Britain, viz., at the Doyal at Doncaster last year where he was placed 2nd, and at the Highland at Cupar where he was placed 3rd in a class of 22.
