There is the greatest interest in Mr Balfour's projected vis it, designed for *he better understanding and joint conduct of the war. Officials are pleased that such an eminent statesman has been chosen for the task. It is considered that owing to the Americans’ attitude toward the alliances, Mr Balfour will handle tiie • delicate subject diplomatically. His mission is the beginning of a series of conferences among the Allies. Borne newspapers suggest the conference may discuss the question of America agreeing not to make a separate peace.
