FRENCH GENERAL’S MESSAGE.
EXPRESSING ADMIRATION OF NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. London, Dec. 28. The Frencu General d’Amade sent Sir Joseph Ward the following message:—*T wish to convey to your country my admiration and pride at having commanded men from New Zealand of such splendid fighting qualities and magnificent physique. My greatest desire is to visit New Zealand and renew association which can never be forgotten.” Sir Joseph Ward replied, thanking the general for his praise, which New Zealanders would appreciate. He expressed a hope that General d’Amada would visit New Zealand. FREEMASON GREETINGS, FROM FIELDS OF FRANCE. Received Dec. 29. 11.35 a.m. , Loudon, Dec. 28. A meeting of New Zealand Freemasons serving in France, was held within range of the enemy’s guns. Ninety lodges were represented and sent greetings to Brethren in New Zealand.
