MILITARY SERVICE BOARD.
APPEAL FOR EXEMPTION. Per Press Association. Wellintgon, Dec. 27. Before the Military Service Board, Railway Department appeared ;for the exemption of a traffic office clerk who was a expert in the compilation of timetables. The officials stated they pLcsd no obstacle in the way of railwayman enlisting except in those cases where the business of the country, such as the carriage of live stock and produce, also the transportation of troops was seriously interfered with, as would happen in the“case under notice. The staft was already geatly depleted, to the extent of forty per cent in the case of engine drivers and firemen. The Board reserved its decision in the case of the traffic clerk and a signalman and fireman.
