Sir Douglas Haig cabled to the Hon. Wni. Hughes as follows; The Australian Divisions in France are far beluw strength. Drafts are not arriving in sufficient numbers. The divisions have fought splendidly, but they cannot continue to achieve results unless their strength is kept up. The successes of the past few months justify absolute confidence in our power to win final victory, but it is not yet won. To complete our work to secure an enduring peace the utmost efforts of the Empire and Allies will be required for a long time yet. I hope that strong drafts will he despatched so that the strength may be maintained.
