GERMAN SUBMARINE BRUTALITY.
AMERICA ASKS QUESTIONS

It is understood that the United States asks Germany what means it took to safeguard passengers and crews of submarined vessels, and draws attention to the, report that the Stephano was fired on without warning, and that the West Point’s crew bad to take to their boats and that no vessel was near.
THE BOVIC’S EXPERIENCES.

HELLIGOLAV ESCAPES SUBMARINE Received Oct. 16, noon. New York, Oct. 15. The captain of the Bovic reports that he saw a submarine 28 miles south-east of Nantucket, and two miles away following the Helligolav, bound east. The Bovic raced to port and later, in response to a wireless, the Helligolav reported all safe. GREAT AMERICAN RELIEF SCHEME. FOR FRENCH WAR ORPHANS. Washington, Oct. 15. An American relief scheme to assist French war orphans plans to raise 130 million dollars.
