THE JULIAN BATTLE.

ENEMY’S FIRST LINE SMASHED.

COUNTER-ATTACKS [IMPOTENTReceived Oct. 14, 11,6 a.m. London, Oct, 13 The Daily Chronicle's Milan correspondent states that the net result of two days’ gigantic battle on the Julian front is the complete smashing through of the enemy’s first line system on an eight kilometres front, and a depth of one to two kilometres. Not less than 24,000 adversaries have been placed hors de cornbar, and 8000 prisoners taken, including three battalions almost intact. The enemy has now mustered all available reserves and guns, and threatened the sector with incessant unsuccessful dense massed counter attacks, which have entailed heavy losses.
