■ mfri I-".. Per Press Association. Dunedin, August 7, The criminal sittings opened today. There is only one case set down, a charge against a Chinaman of indecent assault, which is proceeding. Wellington, August 7. The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court opened (to-day. The Chief Justice, in his {charge to the GrandJJnry, said most of the prisoners who came before the Court were those who indulged in riotous living. On the present list was a very large number of sexual "cases, but nonejof a most serious kind. William Thomas Newman, a young man, was admitted to probation [for two years for breaking, entering and theft.
