LINE OF TRENCHES STORMED. HAND TO HAND AMONG RUINS. London, July 9. Sir Douglas Haig reports; Fighting to-day was principally on the extreme right flank. We made further important successes. . We stormed a line of trendies eastward of Bernafray wood and gained a lodgment in the strongly defended Trones wood. The enemy’s losses were severe. A stroug counter attack en masse across the open broke the enemy, who retired in disorder. Hand to hand lighting continues among the ruins of Ovillers, where v?e made considerable advance. Oor aeroplanes exploded an ammunition depot and bombed billets.
