QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE.
Mr E. Newman, Eangitikei, asked the Prime Minister, whether it is the intention of the Government to give the House an opportunity this session of expressing an opinion on the question of the curtailment or the hours for the sale of alcoholic liquors, and also on what is known as “shouting” or “treating” in hotels dnring the period of the war? The Eight-Hon. Mr Massey, Prime Minister, replied, I have already indicated that tne House will be given an opportunity this session of dealing with the question of “treating.” Reports on the other proposal are being obtained from the Police Department. ... , , Mr E. Newman, Rangitikei, asked the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of the Government to propose any alteration in the provisions of the Legislative Council Act, 1915 which names the date of coming into operation of the Legislative Act, IS) 14, as the Ist September, 1917? Tbe Right Hon. Mr Massey replied, this matter will be considered before the session comes to an end.
