AMUSEMENTS.
CINEMA. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. There was a large audience at the Town Hall on Saturday night “to view the final screening of the first instalment of the “Trey o’ Hearts” serial drama, which promises to be such a popular picture. The whole programme was of a very excellent nature and every item was well received. Very appropriate music was rendered by the Cinema Orchestra, under the direction of Mr Savage, whose own composition ‘‘The Skipper” waltz was played early in the programme to the enjoyment of all.
To-morrow and Wednesday evenings the Excelsior star film “The Path Forbidden,” from the book by John B, Hymer, wilJ be the top liner. The tilm is an Alliance Exclusive in five big parts, featuring Octavia Haudwortb, and contains many thrilling, electric and sensational scenes. There is a big supporting programme, including an excellent Y.O. topical film entitled ‘‘From Constantinople to Hill of Death. ”
BAKER BROS.’ CIRCUS
Baker Bros.’ circus opens in Bulls on Wednesday and at Saudon on Thursday evening. This circus specialises in animal training, and presents a total of 60 highly trained ponies, donkeys, mules, dogs and monkeys, whose performances our exchanges report to be excellent in every respect. The buck jumping performance is another item that never fails to attract, and the famous outlaw, ‘‘Fireworks” is expected to test the best local roughridiug talent that is willing to take him on. The individual performers include Miss Barbenna Baker, whose former appearances here earned her much approbation; La Belle Bertie, the ‘‘Dental Queen. 1 ’ who made a big bit in America; Kioto, the clever Japanese humorist and silver thread walker; Delino, the champion somersault bareback rider; the Walkofsky Sisters, Russian dancers; Brasso and Tips, American clowns; and Professor Colea, who is unexcelled as an animal trainer. With such an array of talent, full tents may confidently be expected during Baker Bros.’ season in this district.
