THE EMPIRE’S CALL.
The following are the recent enlistments at the Marten Recruiting Office: — Cecil Collin Powell, bookseller, Marton. Frank H. Hatherly, accountant, Marton. George M, Trott, Simplex operator, Marton. Lou McLachlau, farmer. Hunterville. G. C. Dunham, sawmiller, Rata. Thus. C. Latham, draper. Marton, nutit. das. S. Smith, postal clerk, Marton, Duncan Me Alpine, labourer, Marton, 2 J. B. Reid, motor mechiuc, Marton Ail men registered and passed as fit for the infantry are requested to go into camp next Monday, 39th May, at 9 o’clock. No other branches except infantry have vacancies at present, All men waiting to be called up for other branches are requested to transfer to the infantry. The following notice has been received by Sergt. -Major Sanders:— “It does not appear to he genjrall y known that in accordance with paragraph 127 of the Returned SoldiersP Handbook, discharged soldiers can only wear their uniform on ocassions authorised by the Officer Commanding their military districts. Application for permission to wear uniform on any special occasion should be made whenever occasion may arise to the local Defence Office. ’ ’
