Wellington, April 31. At the annual meeting of the Educational Institute to-day the Hon J. Hanan announced that it was his intention to introduce and, if possible, cairy into operation this year, a new scheme for grading teachers. For many years, he said, he had felt that some National scheme was essential, in order that merit in connection with appointments and promotions in the teaching profession should be recognised. He was determined that a grading scheme should come out this year.
