PATRIOTIC SPORTS ON ST. PATRICK’S DAY. . |p The annua] meeting of the above Club was held in the Coronation Hall last night, Mr Geo. Morris presiding, but there was only a small attendance of members. The report stated that the Club started the- year with a credit balance of £24 2s 3d. The profits of the Sports meeting resulted in £SO being donated to the Belgian Relief Fund, the chief items of revenue being members subs and donations £32 15s 7d, gates £33 32s 6d. Nominations amounted to £l9 15s fid, tea kiosk £l3 9s, and other sources "-£23 19s lOd. The prize money amounted to £54 5s fid. The credit balance at the bank is now £lB 19s sd. Special thanks are due to the ladies for running a tea kiosk, which proved a great success, and to all donors of trophies and to the members who took such a keen interest in the Sports. The report and balance-sheet, were adopted. It was decided to hold a patriotic sports meeting in the Marton Park on the same lines as last year. The Rangitikei Patriotic Society and the Rangitikei Motor Cycle Club are to be asked to co-operate in the management of the sports. Mr Bill spoke of the urgent need of money for relieving the immediate needs of the men who are going to fight for us and those who have returned from the front, and suggested that the funds should be put in a general fund for the x’elief of these men. It was decided that the net profits of the sports be devoted to the general funds of the Rangitikei Patriotic Society. The ladies of the district are to be asked to lake charge of the afternoon tea kiosk. The sports will be held on Friday, 17th March (St. Patrick’s Day). Hannan, O. E. Gibbons, J. H. McDonald and S. Hunt. Judges (horse events), Messrs J. Bull and W. Signal. Horse committee: Messrs G, Morris, H. A. Prebble, S. J. Gibbons anc( O. Way. Supervisor: Mr M, Marr. Clerk of Scales, Mr E, L. Young, Starter, Henderson. General Committee: Messrs R. McKinley, H P. O’Brien,;Avery, J. Hannan, C. Hunt, A. Wilkie, A. Hunt, A. Brown, R. Messrs R. McKinley, A. Signal, A. Way, R. P. Wood,-S.> Hunt and G. Argo -were appointed a programme committee. Mr G. Argo was appointed secretary and treasurer, and a bonus of £5 - 5s was voted to the secretary, which he banded back to the'Clnb. * i Messrs A. H. Bill, G. Morris and S. J. Gibbons were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for an entertainment on the evening of the Sports. The subscriptions was fixed at 3s 6d for members, to admit lady and gentleman. The Marion Brass Band was engaged to play at the Sports. Messrs A. Signall, W. Mclndoe, and S. Hunt were appointed a canvassing committee for trophies for the Sports.
