GENERAL BIRDWOOD COMMANDS BRITISH FORGES.
GENERAL GODLEY SUCCEEDS BIRDWOOD.

A cablegram received by the Defence Minister reports that changes have been made in the commands at the Dardanelles. General Birdwood, who has commanded the .Australian and New Zealand Army Corps since the commencement of the operations, has been place in control of ail the British forces at the Dardanelles. Doubtless he will work under the direction of General Monro, who was sent to succeed General Sir lan Hamilton, hut who has remained at Salonika. General Godley succeeds General Birdwood in command of the Australian and New Zealand divisions of that corps. He is succeeded in that position by Brigadier-General Sir A. H. Russell, while Brigadier-General Legge commands the Australian Division, the other portion of the army corps.
