FOR OUR BOYS AT THE FRONT.
In order to procure comforts for our boys at the front the ladies of Marton ar again coming to the fore and on Saturday, December 4th, are going to open a shop near Davenport’s corner, to which they hope the farmers and others will bring small contributions of fresh eggs, butter, cream, vegetables, jam, fruit, etc.; or anything of a saleable nature that can be turned into cash, in fact the ladles hope to be able tp supply, on Saturdays, most of the delicacies for Sunday’s dinner in the shape of lamb and mint sauce, apple and gooseberry tarts, fresh cream, cakes, home-made bread and fresh butter.
The proceeds are to be-used in support of the Red Cross Society and for buying comforts tor those actually in the trenches. It is proposed to make use of the services of the Y.M.C.A , who are doing such good work in tho war area, and who have an ' organised system for getting comforts to our boys who are in the trenches.
