The National Council of Women is taking a voluntary census of the women in New South Wales with a view to obtaining definite information in regard to work possible fer women. New South Wales has decided not to adopt fcno Commonwealth cooperative loan scheme. The position in the other States is not affected. The Queensland wheat crop is a failure. The Slate is obtaining three million bushels from New South Wales. Melbourne, Nov. 29. Salted; Westraiia, for New Zealand. The vessel was delayed until Sunday on account [of the firemen striking for increase 'wages, but ultimately accepted the ruling rate. Tho Westraiia is ■carrying the English mail. ’ Perth, Nov. 29. A conference of tho Assembly and Council decided that'the hotel hours should he from nine to nine. Tho Anti-Shouting Bill was defeated on the Speaker’s casting vote.
