Reuter, describing a visit to the Hohenzollern Redoubt,says debris of the lighting is evei’ywhere—broken rifles, blood soaked clothes, bayonets and innumerable articles and equipment, On the ground from the Redoubt the old British lines lie the bodies of many of our brave men which must be recovered by stealth, i Burial parties file on and bring I them back one by one. Reaching a point within thirty, 'yards of the German trenches and using a periscope, the correspondent saw heaps of German bodies. Many were half-buried in the ruined trenches. Within the past -week we have nibbled several pieces in the enemy’s line tending to improve our position.

The German Government is considering a programme for the renewal of the male population.
A meeting of the Prussian House of Lords suggested the abolition of the legal age and assistance to the impecunious by State premiumscn large families and heavy taxes on bachelors and old maids.

FLAG NO PROOF OF OWNERSHIP.

Au Order-in-Council has been published abrogating article 57 in the Declaration of London whereby a merchant ship’s flag is the sole test of nationality and substitution the old prize law. Experts opine that the object of the order is to prevent the traffic of many vessels trading under neutral flags but which in realit5 T wholly or partly German owned. The AngloAmerican doctrine is now reinstated which takes into consideration the shipowners’ nationality aud'permits condemnation of an enemy’s interest in a vessel if proved irrespective of the flag. It is epsected the Germans will retaliate as far as possible including British owned vessels under the Scandinavian flag in the Baltic, though most of these are now leaving owing to the season.
