A widespread anarchistic; y plot with the olpeot of killing Carnegie, the ,two Rockefellers, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and other of the wealthiest men, has been nipped in the ‘ bud by the arrest ot two men in the apt .of projecting a lighted bomb towards the altar of £>£. Patrick’s Cathedral. The blowing up of the Cathedral was said to have been the signal for inaugurating a reign of terror comparable to that of the French revolution. Gangs with rifles and revolvers were to appear simultaneously in various parts of the city, invade the financial district and lay bombs under the biggest hanks. General looting was to follow.
The plans became known to detectives, who worked fox months among the anarchists..
