The engineers in the. Qoole shipyards have struck. The firm is busy with Government contracts. The men asked Us advance. An offer of 3s was refused.
A mass meeting of engineers in Glasgow displayed odnsiderable "reluctance to resume, though now returning in many place The men are earning 54a weekly, and are paid double on Sundays. Labourers at the Pembroke.Devonport, Portsmouth and- Deptlord dockyards are demanding an increase of 4s 6cL Liverpool coal beavers refused to return to work, tbns delaying liners and impeding the forwarding of supplies to the troops. Tee men are defying the Union leaders, who made strenuous attempts to persuade them to resume.
It is believed that if they persist the authorities will take steps to ensure the couti nuance of work. The National Union of Dock Labourers has issued a manifesto to the ooalheavers that uules they return to work they will be expelled from the union.
