The engineers in the. Qoole shipyards have struck. The firm is busy with Government contracts. The men asked Us advance. An offer of 3s was refused.

Tee men are defying the Union leaders, who made strenuous attempts to persuade them to resume.

It is believed that if they persist the authorities will take steps to ensure the couti nuance of work. The National Union of Dock Labourers has issued a manifesto to the ooalheavers that uules they return to work they will be expelled from the union.
