THE HIGH PRICE OF MEAT.
(To The Editor.) ,
Slß,—Replying to “Fair Play’s” effusion appearing in your Monday’s issue his com de plume is singularly unfit/ A lot of casual statements are made which would lead- the public to believe that our local butchers must be nothing more or leas than thieves. Will “Fair Play” state when fat sheep dropped with a run of 5s to 10s per head, and fat cattle in proportion, and who was the vendor and the purchaser. No doubt average sheep and cattle have dropped in price, bat not so fat stock. Let “Fair Play” prove anything to the contrary and since he knowaso much about- butchers businesses and profits it would be rather interesting for him to show where the public are being taken down at the present price of meat. Oorae out into the open “Fair Play” and sign yonr name, and I will follow suit. Meanwhile I will sign myself,—
“BONNY PLAY.”
