ELECTION PETITION.

Per Press Association. Whangarei, March 3,

The hearing of the petition lodged by Nan Paraone Kawiti, Whangarei, and Naera Nnao, of Kaikohi, against theareturn of Tan Henare, M.P. for the Northern Maori Electoral |Distriot opened at Whangarei to-day before Justices Hosting and Stringer. Mr Prendergast, for the petitioners, asked that font items in the petition alleging that voting papers were not issued and that electors entered the polling place more than ons at a time might be withdrawn. There was no objection raised except by Mr Blomfleid, for the returning officer, respecting costs. Permission was granted, and a request has now been made for an amendment which raises legal points. ■.
