At the Supreme Court; Patrick Gunn, 19 years old, charged with theft and arson at Rawene, failed to appear, though he was out on bail in two sureties of £350 each, provided by the prisoner’s lather (John Gunn) and brother-in-law ( William Robert O’Brien, of Auckland). Accused vanished before the opse was called on Tuesday. A search failed to reveal his whereabouts. The Judge said lie was satisfied the sureties bad done everything reasonable to produce the accused, and under the circumstances he would not estreat the recognisances and inflict such a serious loss upon them
