MR ASQUITH'S PROPOSALS “
SWEEPING CONCESSIONS.

The Rt. Hon. H. H Asquith promised to make a statement re concessions on Monday, when moving the second reading of the Home Rule Bill.
It is authoritatively stated in the lobbies that Mr Asquith’s proposals will be of a sweeping character, vesting in Ulster extensive control, with the option of withdrawal at the end of a certain period. Members of ail parties express the opinion that Mr Birrell will reintrodnce Home Rale to-day, but that it will nos be 'discussed. They expect that some weeks will elapse after Mr Asquith’s statement to permit proposals to be digested. Mr Paget’s motion was dropped. The Union Defence League has taken up the appeal against Home Rule, and is distributing a memorial throughout the Kingdom for signature.
