The Wanganui .Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting opened to-day in fine weather, though a very cold wind was blowing. The attendance was large and the track was in good order. Results; —
Stewards’ Handicap, 8% furlongs. —Expect 1, Guiding Wav 3, Merry Frank 3. Scratched: Emperador and Allegation. Won by half a length, a neck between second and third. Time, Imin 60sec. Petre Hack, six furlongs.—Fr'ncess Moutoa 1, Aratiatia 2, Historlette 3. Scratched: White Plume. Won by a lergtb. Time, Imin 16seo.
Westmere Hurdles, two mile®.— The Rover 1, Timothy 2, Bercola 3. Scratched: Cornelian. Timothy made the early running. Whimper came*to grief at the first hurdle, and Kurnalpi fell half a mile from home. Won by ten lengths, six lengths between second and third. Time, 3iain oOsec. Tayforth Hack Hurdles.. 1% miles. —Aruake 1, St. Gate 2, Ruffy 3. Also ran: Waipsku snd Tanrangi. Won by a length and a half. Time, 3min 19seo.
Wanganui Cap, 1% miles. —Sinapis 1, Moutoa Girl 2, Sir Solo 3. Also ran: Ton Ton, Bronze, Los Angelos, Sea Pink, Byron, Lord Renown, Cheddar, Sir Knox, Tiresome, Leonta, Marshal Macdonald and Manawakaha. Cheddar was the first to break sn even line, Manawakaha getting the worst of the start. Cheddar was followed by Bon Ton and Moutoa Girl. Passing the stand these three still filled the leading positions, with Los Angelos last. At the half-mile Bon Ton headed Cheddar, but Moutoa Girl soon assumed command and led Sinapis into the straight. The New Zealand Cup winner made her run at the distance and beat Moutoa Girl by & long neck, Sir Solo two and a half lengths away third. Time, • 3min 4sec.
Juvenile Handicap, 5 furlongs. Bradamante 1 Ringform 2, Rencontre 3. Also ran: Oarloman, Shannon Beils, Dame Rumour, Protocol, Grey Guard and Maroeliue. BradamaiCe led all the way and won comfortably by two lengths. Time, Imin 3seo.
Wiritoa Hack, one mile and 110 yards.—Lubrillae 1, Centenary 2, Square Deal 3. Also ran: Canute, White Crane, Kiabombi, Reoord, Sweet Van. A great race; won by a neck. Time, Imin 51seo.
Flying Handicap, six furlongs— Pavlova 1, Makara 2, Lady Volga 3. Also ran: Bon Reve, Gipsy Belle, Ermengarde, Culprit, Gladiole, Grattan, Heather. Epworth, Sauoi and Sunbird. A good race; woo hy a good length. Time. Imin losec.
