Until yesterday, Sumner violently maintained his innocence. Then lie suddenly bursi into tears when the chaplain visitnl him, and he confessed to the Bishop of Liverpool. The latter conferred with Sumner as a penitent Sumner repeated his confession to bis father and asked him to forgive. The broken hearted parent was unable tr answer, and abruptly left. Received February 37, 9 a.m. London, February 26. Sumner was banged last evening.
