BRITISH AEROPLANE FLEET.

SPEEDIEST IN EUROPE

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.

London, February 26

Colonel Seely stated in the House of Commons that Britain has 161 aeroplanes, an increase of 48 since June 30th, despite 43 being “scrapped.” With a view to minimising, risks he added that Britain was insisting on a higher degree of safety than any other country. The military wing had flown 100,000 miles in eight months without a fatality._ It was proposed to maintain 205 aeroplanes, necessitating 125 new ones annually. The problem of getting sufficient aeroplanes and engines in Britain had now been solved. The average speed was the highest in Europe.
