TRENTHAM RIFLE MEETING

The Dominion Rifle Association’s annual meeitug commenced al Trentham to-day. The marksmen assembled shortly after 9 o’clock, when Colonel Colßns addressed the men. He said the entries showed a slight increase, and it appears that the meeting was on the way to recover its former popularity. Colonel Collins also stated that he hoped if the Empire Match is conducted at Melbourne, as had been suggested, New Zealand would be represented. The team would comprise the fi'st eight in the final fifty for the Belt, and four others would be select:d by the Committee.
The squads then marched to the range where the Classification Practice Match was commenced at 9.50. Entries for the meeting comprise:— Staff 5, Territorials (51, r'fl a:en 288. including 81 tyros.
