Arrangements were made with defendants for boat to take a full load of sleep and only 1228 were shipped Plaintiffs con-tend-that the vessel could have carried 272 more and they claim accordingly. One point for the defence so far disclosed is that in consequence of bad weather it was inadvisable to ship a full load. A meeting of Canterbury shareholders in the Bank of New Zealand yesterday protested against the Bank Bill on the following grounds: —(1) That thereby no equitable representation is afforded to shareholders. Previous disappointments have lulled many into a feeling of caution, and veiy little ia being taken for granted in regard to future business with the United States; but of one thing we are quite certain, and that is, that with the wider opening of the American doors, New Zealand wool will pass through thein in a great volume, of which few dream at the present time."
