AUSTRALIA'S NAVY.
A STIRRING SPEECH. United Press Association.—By Eleo trio Telegraph—Copyright. Received September 12, 9 a.m. Sydney, September 12. Admiral King Hall, responding to the toast of "The Empire" at the Chamber of Commerce banquet, said:—"l am a staunch supporter of the Commonwealtn naval policy. It is the only practical thing. It was that or nothing. It is a great fallacy to suppose that the initiation of an Australian navy will weaken and in time dissolve the connection with Britain and one of her most vigorous sons. Not so ; it will have the reverse effect if the Empire rulers have ODly ordinary wisdom and common sense. It is inconceivable that the Australian navy division of the Imperial Fleet would lie in their ports or only cruise the coasts of Australia if the Empire is at war, as some foolish writers re marked. Where danger is there will be found the Australian navy flying the same White Ensign as was flown by Nelson's ships and manned by the same breed that won that victory. (Cheers).
