DAMAGES FOR LIBEL.

At the Supreme Court this morning the jury found a verdict for £3OO for plaintiff in J. A. Newell v Lyttelton Times Company, an action for libel. Plaintiff is the gaol surgeon at Lyttelton gaol and the libel was contained in an article commenting on the gaol system.
