Afc the half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand District Hibernian Society, al Auckland, it was reported that the funeral fund has a credit balance of £10.500. During the half-year £260 was paid on funeral claims. There was a lengthy discussion on a scheme propounded by the Executive for extending greater powers to the branches m groups in the hope of maintaining the funity and solidarity ot the society in the Dominion. The President gave assurance that steps will be taken to amend the rules m this direction. Another of 15,000 rainbow trout fry was liberated last week in Rangitikei an “ an ‘ other 15,000 will be liberated tomorrow. The fry are from the strain in the Tanpo Lakes district, and should prove a valuable acquisition to tbe river. Rainbow trout thrive particularly well in this river, and anglers should be provided with good sport in the near future. There are very few rivers in the Dominion in which rainbows manage to thrive, and anglers in this district are fortunate that the rainbows can adapt themselves to their new home. Brown trout are not a success' in Rangitikei river The sub-com-mittees at Taihape and Hunterville in coniunetion with Marten, will approximately liberate 200,000 rainbow fry this season in the Rangitikei ;*
