Both Queens had a great reception in the streets. Many buildings were decked with artificial roses. The ladies invaded the Stock Exchange, and brokers auctioned the flowers, refusing bids under £l. A member of the Stock Exchange poid £2O for a spr y. Pifty blew Zealand ladies were a great success at Whitehall. The Australian organisation fell through. The Daily Mail, in a couimn prtic l ©, describes Australia’s wattle day, likening it to Alexandra Day.' London, June 25. Alexandra Day was a huge success, thousands of society leaders and girla selling roses on behalf of hospitals Queens Mary and Alexandra, and Princess Mary drove 14 miles round London thanking the flower-sellers.
