A REMARKABLE TRAGEDY.
United Press Association.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.Sydney, June 1. A remarkable tragedy took place in North Sydney. A young man named Drysdale shot a friend, Miss Day, dead, and wounded himself se; iously. Drysdale is believed to be suffering from religious mania. He made a rambling statement in the hospital that he locked up to Heaven and something told him he must take his life. He went ,inside and did the shooting. He added that the Bible;referred to the new life hereafter, aud he wanted to go there with Miss Day. Received June S 3 S a.m.
Sydney, June 2. The crime was motiveless. Miss Bay, who was 40 years of age, lived at Drysdale's for years. She was treated as one of the family and was on the best of terms with her slayer, who a year ago attempted to commit suicide, since when he has devoted almost the whole of his time to the study of religious questions. He declared the crime was the will of God.
Drysdale is in a precarious condition
