DIVORCED WIFE'S DEBTS.

The defsruiant was Mr George Baylis, who farms some thouaaiuß of acres near Bewsbury, and the claim was for £37. The defendant said lie married Mrs Baylis, who was ins second wife, about six years ago. and had since divorced her. After they were married she left i; lin and lived in Paris for eighteen months, “I tool: her bach,’’ said Mr Baylis, “and she lived very quietly, as I thought, for three years, and then sho foil in love w»th some other man. In order that she should have a tremendous lot of beautiful clothes to go away with, she went to these V,'e.-t Bud shops ami ordered these things ’’ The Judge; Did you Know of these accounts? Mr Baylis said he did not, but lie was forced to pay for the remainder, because there had beta previous transactions with the firms, whom ho had paid by cheque, if she had not been ablo to obtain credit from these West End shops,” said Air Baylis, regretful!}’, “1 do not believe she would have loft me; but how could she face ms and tell me that she had incurred debts to the amount of £s00?” His Honor gave judgment for the defendant, with costs.
