J In his pre-sessional address at Marfcou on Tuesday night, Mr Newman gave an interesting return on the estates purchased for laud for settlement purposes:— ESTATES PURCHASED DURING YEAH ENDED MARCH 31st, 1913. Havvke’s Bay,—“Sherenden, ” near Hastings, 8337 acres; “Tunanui,” near Hastings, 2000 acres; “Waihau,” near Napier 6062 acres; “Raumati,” (part) near Napier, 820 acres; “Ngaroto,” near Napier, 9228 acres. Total 26,447 acres. Canterbury. —“ Aylesbury, ” ;Kirwee, 1002 acres; “Waimate,” Waimate, 1667 acres; “Aveaol Extension Settlement," Hakaia, (1337 acres; do. Rakaia 521 acres; ‘‘Bourndale, ” Makikihi, 1576 acres; Claremont,” near Timaru, 2336 acres; do near Soufchburn, 1089 acre ; “Timannga Etseusiou Settlement,” near Sonthburu. £613 acres; do. 459 acres; *’Mt.
