NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. Per Press Association. Wellington, May 28. The management committee of tiie New Zealand Rubgy Union met tonight. The Otago Union wrote, accepting September 13th as the date for the New Zealand—Australia match. Mr E. Pomeroy cabled from ’Frisco that a decided amver regarding the vissit of a New Zealand team to California would be given on June 4th, and would probably be favourable. Wanganui’s application for the removal of the suspension of O, Boyle was granted. The Southland Union wrote concerning the disqualification of certain players who had taken part in League gams. It was decided to confer with tiie representative of Southland on the matter next Saturday. In response to a letter from New South Wales it was decided to take no action at present in the matter of joining with Australia in an invitation to British and South African teams to make visits in 111.15 and DIG respectively. Savoury, a prominent League player, who was picked to visit Australia with the touring team, was disqualified for life by the Rugby League ’to-night for foul tactics in a match played a fortnight ago. The Maori touring team defeated Rotorua by 17 to h. In the first spell the game was (j all, but in the second the Maoris, although not playing as well as the .Rotorua backs, showed better forward combination, The team promises to be strong with practice.
JUNIOR CUP MATCH. HUNTERVILLE v, BULLS. The above junior match was played on the Bulls Domain on Wednesday, and resulted in a win for the visitors by eleven points to nil. The game was not very interesting, with the exception of the smart foot work of the Hunterville pack, who invariably got the ball out to their back and several times they were within an ace of scoring, but the splendid collaring of Hancock kept the scores down. Within'a few minutes from the start of play Histon scored from a forward rush, and this is was the only score registered in the first spell. Clark (Bulls) made a splendid attempt at goal from a free kick, the ball falling short by several inches. In the second spell a senes of long kicks between the backs of both teams was rather a novel way of playing the game without any ground being ’gained. Gifford then scored for Hunter-Villa from a forward scramble, but the kick at goal failed, McAllcy, who plays a fast game on the wing three-iiuurter, received smartly from a pass and crossed the line for Hunterville. E. Ingpen landed a goal and the game ended—Hunterville 11, Bulls 0. [Mr A. Hunt made an efficient referee.
