The Progressives made a vigorous effort to oust the Reformers, alleging that the tramways were endangered by the Reformers’ unfulfilled promises of economy. Of eleven women candidates, one was elected. The Reformers gained nine and the Progressives two, making the Reformers 67 and the rProgressives 51. Mr Cyril Jackson was defeated for Limehouse, hut is expected to he elected an Alderman.
