In tli© Assembly during the discussion on the Public Works Estimates, Mr Griffiths’ administration was severely criticised. Mr Henley claimed that chaos reigned from top to bottom ot the department, and he deliberately charged with maladministration, saying "the very dogs had been barking maladministration for the last twelve months, and if the Minister refused to accept the challenge he would make the inquiry wide enough to cover three charges. He was not only £the biggest maladministrator but the biggest bounder ip'the State. AnotherAnember declared that the “fat man” ’would in future be associated with 'the Labour Party. Mr Griffiths in a heated defence, characterised the story, alleging that he had invested £40,000 in England where he was going to live when he retired from politics, as the blackest lie,fas he was ga poorer man to-day than when he took office. Mr Levien retorted “You are a bigger fool than you for. ’ ’ There is a possibility of Mr Woods’ motion being shelved. Mr Holman states that unless the Speaker insists on giving it it is unlikely to be discussed during the present session, and will be put among the list of the undesirable motions which are at the end of every consigned to oblivion. There is a general opinion that Mr Willis will insist on it being taken on Monday.
Mr Holman announced that Government hoped to end the session in December, and a number of Bills will be jettisoned.
