HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. Per Press Association. ’ ; Wellington, November 4. The following is the High Commissioner's report, dated 2nd November, quotations unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot:— ' Mutton.—The market is quiet, but steady, on: account of moderate supply. Canterbury 4i£d, North Island River Plate 4d, Australian 3%d, English ewes 4d. Lamb. —The market is weaker, though not actually lower, Canterbury 5%d, other than Canterbury 5%d. , ■ B ee f,—The market is very dull. The supply exceeds the demand. New Zealand fores 2%d. Butter. —The, market is weakening, with sighs of a declihe. There is less demand. The supply is plentiful. Buyers are holding back expecting prices to go lower. Danish 130 s, Siberian 109 s, Australian 119 s, Argentine 119 s. Cheese.—The market is unsteady. Prices are irregular. The supply of English is large. Canadian white 635, coloured 645. Hentp:— I The Market is strong and advanced. New Zealand good fair grade on spot £34105, fair'grade £33, fair current Manila £34 10s. Forward shipment about the same, price. The output from Manila for the week was 31,000 bales. The River Plate shipments received during October, 1912 Mutton and lamb —London 123,233 and 20,548; ■ Liverpool 113.,840 and 18,789; Cardiff 2000 and nil; Newcastle 8000 and nil; total 247,073 and 93,327.

Sales of mixed lines of South Canterbury have been made at 3s sd. The absence of shipping Home and the rush of South Canterbury wheat is depressing prices, Oats have revived owing to an inquiry from Australia, and the fact that a steamer is calling here this week. A grade Gartons reached 3s Id net at the end of the week, and B grade Is lid, and as high as 2s \ net delivered was given. Little has \ been done in potatoeis. The latest business has been £9 10 net on trucks.
