Mr Bell moved a similar resolution regarding the late Sir ‘ William Steward as was passed in the other Chamber. He referred in eulogistic, terms -to the late hon. member’s public career during more
than forty years. The Hons. Carncross, Mills, ,' Parata, and Samuel also spoke and the motion was carried. 1 The Land Bill was reported with amendments. The Council adjourned. The Council met in the evening. - The Railways Amendment, the Kaiapoi Reserve, the Bast Coast Native Trust Lands Amendment, Public Revenues Amendment, and Savings Banks Amendment Bills were read the'second time.
