FARMERS’ UNION.
-MEETNG OF WELLIINGTON EXECUTIVE. Per Press Association. Palmerston N., October 10. The Wellington Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union decided to denote £2O to-day to the local technical school shearing classes, which Mr F. D. Opie, technical instructor, is running. They are believed to be the only classes of this nature in 'Now Zealand. The Executive spent an hour or two today watching the classes at work. It was also decided to donate £2O to the Wellington classes when they are actually started. The Executive decided to protest against any alteration in the methods of voting for loans as set out in the Loans to Local Bodies Act ana to send a copy of the resolution to Mr Massey. In the matter of the amendment of the Defence Act in the direction of allowing conscientious objectors t(p avoid drill, it wa sdecided that the best substitution for drill would he road making. It was resolved to take no action in the matter of the Poluutiou ofjWater Bill, the opinion being expressed that it might prove detrimental to the dairying industry. A resolution was passed regarding the request of the waterside workers for manures to be packed in paper lined bags, that all manures be packed in bags containing not more than 1131b5., bags to be made with four lugs for the convenience of watersiders.
