MAIN TRUNK DELAYED.
SEVERE SLIPS ON RAILWAY.
ABOUT TWO MILES AFFECTED.
Per Press Association.
Taihape, October 'll. Severe 'slips on the railway between Ohakune and Horopito last night have entirely blocked traffic possibly for two or. three days. The express is held up at Taumarunui. The area affected is about two miles. All available men have been despatched to the locality, and every effort is being made to clear the line as soon as possible. Auckland, October 11. ~ Eight falls occurred at different points within a mile of each other. It is ' estimated that 3000 tons of earth has been displaced. Neither the north nor south bound trains got through. Heavy rain last night so loosened the soil that there are fresh falls as soon as claeranoes are made It is unlikely that communication will be established to-day as it is almost impossible to tranship the passengers and luggage over so many slips
